Problem: The client needed a privacy-friendly analytics solution and wanted to self-host Matomo on a VPS and integrate it with a production Next.js application in a multi-server setup. What I did: Installed and configured Apache, PHP, and MariaDB, fixed database and firewall issues, set up a dedicated subdomain, and deployed Matomo. Integrated tracking into a Next.js frontend and validated live analytics. Result: A fully functional self-hosted analytics platform with reliable production tracking and documentation.
